San Domenico Palace, built out of a 14th century Dominican convent, has timeless charm with updated facilities and the luxury hospitality company’s impeccable service standards located in Taormina Sicily. I stayed just after it reopened in July 2021. It was formally a hotel of the same name and a favorite of regulars that came year after year.

The hotel has been completely renovated top to bottom. Much of the common area is built around an open air courtyard, perfect for cocktails or an afternoon coffee. As you exit the back of the hotel, you are greeted with some of the most beautiful gardens leading down to the infinity pool perched high above the coastline with stunning views of both the sea and Mt Etna.

Everything is walkable here. Just steps away is some of the best shopping, restaurants and the famous Taormina Greek amphitheater. The property houses 111 guest rooms and suites, some of which come with terraces and plunge pools, along with a spa, gym and infinity pool terrace. While the decor is similar in each room, the vast amount of unique marble used in the bathrooms is stunning.
